Certification of Forest Reproductive Materials

The Certificate for Forest Reproductive Materials refers to the regulations for harvesting and marketing of seeds (especially conifer and leafy species) that have certificate of origin and quality. The regulations were implemented in the year 2003 and are described in the Royal Decree 289/03 of March 7th, transposing and adapting the European Directive (1999/105/CE about Marketing Forest Reproductive Materials) to our country. It's the instrument that helps take decisions about admission of source materials, conditions for production and marketing of seeds and plants as well as using them properly. Summarizing, it establishes the scope of application, the regulated species, the categories as well as the requirements for source materials and ultimately, the systems for control and certification.
